The Mile.

Its almost 11pm and I'm looking forward to putting my head on the pillow & calling it a day..
Tomorrow ill be up at 5.30 preparing for a race I have no experience in & the opportunity
to make $10,000 in about 20mins.
Given my experience with open water swimming in general & with the temperature of the water
(14-15 deg celsius) I'd go as far as saying the odds are stacked against me.
Although the prize money was the drawcard to coming, I don't want to put pressure on myself
to win. I will be satisfied to make the swim at all or even a top 10 finish..
This is an opportunity to do something i have never done before and something few people
can say they have done... Also anything can happen...

The line below in the circle is the mile long course (Angel Island to Tiburon), below & towards the right is the Golden Gate Bridge & on the right of Angel Island is is Alcatraz Island.

Codies killing it..

Our first session swimming with a group over here Codie forgot his swim suit and decided to do the whole session in his shorts and undies. BRAVE..! He then decided to try and convince the locals that its just the norm in Australia. I still can't quite grasp why they didn't believe him...

Pick-A-Pearl..

One of the spontaneous things we did while in Hawaii was Pick-A-Pearl, It's basically oyster lucky dip. After picking our oyster we blessed it and cracked it open. We were lucky enough to score this sucker that we got made into a simple yet elegant necklace. We were on a tight budget of sorts & this was great as it was relatively low cost, you take something home with you & it was one of those lasting memories that stick in your mind when you go back to the daily grind.

I'm hungry..

Just made myself some tasty lunch/dinner!
Chicken pesto fettuccine w/ spinach, sun dried tomato & pine nuts.. Yummo!

Ball Park Baby..

I understand Baseball may hold values throughout American history & today was my first little taste of that game in the country that has so many patriotic fans. I see it to be much like cricket in Australia - One guy throws the ball, another hits the ball, the guy who hits the ball runs to a mark & people in the field try catch the ball. (Boring).

However so many things about my first game that made it something special & It wasn't just Codie Grimsey's putrid expressions off his unsettled stomach or Trent's attempts to start fights with his one LA Dodgers hat amongst 40,000 SF Giants fans. It was the size & the energy of the crowd, the various foods being carted around & our favourite of all, base stealing Tactic's.

I'm feeling like i just got home from the game but i was playing & not spectating. I can somehow pinpoint the time the night went pear shaped, finding our way home.. I'm going to prevent any reader from ever getting stuck in a situation where you have to walk around for 1hr looking for where the best spot is to get a cab....... Research it FIRST. I wish we did that today..

Although it doesn't seem like it but i really enjoyed my first "Ball game". Just my legs didn't like the post game workout..

I can't sleep!

Band of Horses will be In San Francisco this weekend!

However i'll be at the Giants v Dodgers game..
Maybe I can do both? I guess we will have to wait & see..?

I don't want to make this overly personal more just my views, opinions, reviews, photos, etc. In relation to things I enjoy & experience through sport, traveling, movies, music.. Anything I come in contact with..

Leaving Hawaii yesterday was somewhat of a struggle. After spending 5 days in a place that beautiful with someone special, its hard to just wave them onto a plane without pushing down the airline staff and climbing aboard to join them. But as good as the trip was I will just drop photos in of the trip instead of talking a lot about it now.. Hopefully tomorrow ill get photos up if i can get to an apple store!
